Secondary school years can be restless times for some students – especially if learning comes easier and they’re not feeling challenged by the standard curriculum. On the other hand, some students just want that extra edge in an increasingly competitive school environment. Our Extension Courses are designed to challenge sharp minds in a supportive environment that gets the very best from them in a fun and stimulating way.
QAX Mathematics
The Maths Excellence program is a flexible computer program suitable for students at any level who wish to push themselves harder. It is effective for all secondary levels from basic math proficiency to advanced maths. A free initial consultation ensures entry into the program at the correct level. A combination of computer work and face-to-face teaching allows students to accelerate at their own pace. Students are able to consolidate learning by completing additional activities from home using broadband access and parents are kept up to date via regularly emailed progress reports.

Study Skills
This 10-lesson course equips students with the study skills necessary to help them perform better in exams. This comprehensive program features video clips and student workbooks and focuses on where, when and how to study most effectively, based on a student’s own learning style. Strategies and techniques to remember information, an understanding of goal setting and time management, and the fundamentals of effective note taking leave students well placed to achieve their potential.
The study skills course is especially useful for students moving to a higher phase of their education. For example, year 10 moving to year 11, year 11 moving to year 12 and 13.

Essay Writing
This popular 10-lesson program is essential for senior secondary students who write essays. Students gain an understanding of the essay writing process from analysing the question through to editing the final draft. Emphasis is placed on planning so that students become confident essay writers resulting in improved marks.

Intelligence Development Program
This popular computer based program is designed to develop problem solving, abstract thinking, evaluation, an increase in verbal and non verbal reasoning and visual and auditory memory. Suitable for students from 10 years and up, it is wonderful preparation for those sitting for grammar school entrance exams or applying for scholarships. The program is also often incorporated into other tuition programs by individual Kip McGrath Education Centre teachers.
